Somi Sushi

My name is Thomas Seo. I’m the Head Chef at Somi Sushi. I wanted to share a little bit about myself, my journey, and how I started Somi. First off, the question I get the most is what does “Somi” mean. That’s a pretty simple one, it’s actually my wife’s name. She’s the inspiration behind what I do and I even named a sushi roll after her. If you haven’t tried the “Somi” roll, please do as it is a favorite.

I’ve been working in the sushi industry for my whole adult career and have been involved in launching half a dozen sushi restaurants throughout the southeast. This experience has helped me to understand what customers like, want, and expect in a sushi restaurant. I’ve also had the privilege to travel throughout the United States to find authentic sushi and ramen restaurants. What I found was that there are a lot of good sushi restaurants! I used those memories to create Somi and helped me curate our current offering. We’re very proud to serve the Matthews Community and hope you visit our restaurant.
